MAR/2026 Update
Writing Project
Writing...didn't work out. I just can't seem to stay focused on a writing project on a day-to-day basis, writing enough text to be worthwhile trying to publish it on RoyalRoad for free, let alone trying to make minimum wage at it. It feels too much like working unfortunately.
PBBG Project
I've swapped back to the PBBG I've been working on/off on and decided to rely heavily on AI to write the code so I can focus on game design and feature velocity. That seems to be working better than writing for me but has the same basic background concept + I've got pay for servers + bandwidth on a CDN.
I could use Cloudflare's free tier but I've not been too impressed with that versus paying a few dollars a month. I also don't like the fact they have a near monopoly on a large percentage of internet traffic right now. Its just another Google and I don't want to be too involved.
I'm planning to have 4 month Season updates that feel like mini-expansions since that gives me alot of time to work with to have down days for my episodes of depression and life happening and all the wonders of "This is a hobby, so I can't prioritize it" issues without it hopefully feeling like I'm coding for contract work.
I've had the domain name MultiverseIdle.com for awhile so that is what I'll be using as the project name. Its probably gonna fail to meet my goals but hey, can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
Financial Goals
Financially, I'm working towards my goals pretty effectively except for the market downswing from the Iran war and the closing the strait of Hormuz. I'd like to think that won't last particularly long one way or another and the market recovers afterwards to previous all time highs but I'm not sure Trump is smart enough to realize what a cluster fuck he has created. Seems more like blatant market manipulation on the Trump Administration's part at this point based on the timing of trades and announcement timing.
Weight
I'm down to 210lbs from 245lbs since last year, so the weight loss journey is nearly in reach. I just need to lose 10-20 more pounds and I'm roughly where I want to be weight wise. Still overweight, but not so much its a serious healh concern anymore.
Other Goals
Other than the usual depressive episodes, I've been happy enough with how my life is going and probably will try to launch the PBBG after the vacation I've got planned + a visit from family in the summer.
So targeting mid-late June or July. Hopefully that's a date I can meet unlike the Writing project one.
The personal infrastructure stuff is really just untouched, I don't really have the time to devote to it so much like writing I suspect it'll get dropped in favor of at lesat finishing one project this year. It is what it is, I only have one real server anyway and so its all manual maintenance at the end of the day. Its probably not worth anisble for one server that I can't automatically reload the OS on.
